Please respect all of our graduates and their guests and avoid loud noise makers to show your excitement. We would like each graduate and their loved ones to be able to hear their name called as they cross the stage on this important evening!
HHS Seniors
Attending Graduation practice is mandatory. Students who do not attend practice will NOT walk with their class.
Participating in the Commencement Exercises of HHS is a privilege that is earned by successfully completing ALL academic requirements by the Board of Education and by being a student in good standing as defined by the student handbook.
Please arrive at the OLD POOL DOORS (A10) and go to the Aux Gym (East Gym) by 5:00pm dressed and ready to go. Graduates will be instructed to pick up their name cards. Parents are asked to please remain in the fieldhouse and not be with the graduates.
Please see the video for how to wear your cap and gown and appropriate attire for the evening. Graduates not meeting the dress requirements will be asked to change their clothing to meet the requirements......no kidding!! (Click on "What do I wear?" at the very bottom of the menu)
Tassel hangs on the right side of your face until you graduate.
DO NOT ALTER YOUR CAP AND GOWN IN ANY WAY! ALTERED ITEMS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE WORN AT SENIOR EVENTS AND/OR GRADUATION.
This would include "decorating" your cap, braiding or tying any department awarded cords, stoles/collars purchased online, or wearing medallions or cords not awarded by or approved by administration of HHS.
Retrieve your name card from the Graduate "staging area", as we practiced, to await the ceremony. You may take pictures with your friends, use the restroom, double check your name pronunciation with Mrs. Jesky, and finish getting ready. You will need to stay in the Aux. Gym and parents/guests are not allowed in this area before the ceremony.
Seniors will walk in pairs into the ceremony. There is no place to sign up, you may walk with a partner of your choice. Students must walk in PAIRS (that means 2 people!). Students without a partner will be paired up with another single student. Groups of 3 or more will be split into pairs.
Any senior causing disruptions to the ceremony may be removed and not allowed to commence or "walk". Please respect your friends, family, and all of the other graduates during this event!
What do Seniors "get"?
Once you walk across in front of the stage, you will receive a diploma cover only.
IT WILL BE EMPTY!!
All seniors will also receive a single stem of the class flower.
As you exit the ceremony, you will pick up your diploma as you leave the event and do not need to return to HHS to get it.
