Safe Practices for Instrumental Music
Band and Orchestra
The following practices will be implemented for all band and orchestra students until further notice.
AIR PURIFICATION
The instrumental music room is equipped with a HEPA room air purifier.
PHYSICAL DISTANCING
Distancing of 3 feet, adjusting farther or closer depending on local conditions.
HAND HYGIENE
Students will practice proper hand hygiene before and after playing any musical instrument. There is a handwashing station set up at the entrance to the music room. Students will wash their hands when entering and exiting the room.
STRING AND PERCUSSION
MASKS
Proper mask-wearing of school-approved face masks at all times

WIND INSTRUMENTS (Woodwind and Brass)
INSTRUMENT MASKS
Every student will be supplied with a new specialty instrument mask appropriate for their instrument, which must be worn at all times when in the music room and when playing their instruments.
BELL COVERS
Every student will be supplied with instrument bell covers used to mitigate aerosols and droplets produced by playing wind instruments.
