Instructional Continuity Plan

Key points of the instructional continuity plan:

  • Students in HPISD will participate in learning opportunities while school is closed.

  • To provide the highest level of instruction possible in the current situation, teachers and staff will provide activities for students in their classes and provide support as needed.

  • Students will engage in lessons and receive instructional feedback from their teachers. As the plan begins, grades will not be recorded in the grade book; however, teachers may assign assessments to monitor learning. Grading will be revisited as the plan progresses based on the extent of the closure.

  • To meet the needs of students, staff, and families, the plan will be monitored as we progress and adjusted as needed.

  • For student online safety and to receive district-level support, staff will utilize virtual platforms, online resources, software, and apps that are vetted, approved, and supported by the district.

  • Although HPISD is not an operational online school, the activities provided by HPISD teachers, designed specifically for their students, provides more targeted instructional continuity than providing general suggestions for families. While some families may desire additional activities for their children, enrichment opportunities may be suggested.

  • The plan includes support for a variety of academic, emotional, and technology needs.

  • Understanding that each student, each family, and each staff member has individual circumstances that equates to a system of needs that must be met within the system’s capacity, HPISD has developed a unique instructional continuity plan for our students and staff that provides the educational opportunities our students deserve even when school is closed.
