Exams for acceleration are available for students seeking to advance to the next grade or course level without having received prior instruction.
Students in or entering grades 1-5 must score at least 90% in the four core areas: reading, math, science, and social studies. Students in or entering grades 6-12 may take single subject exams and must score at least 90% to accelerate through the course.
Students in or entering grades 1-2 will take paper exams proctored by the school district. Students in or entering grades 3-12 will take online exams remotely proctored through a digital testing platform.

Out-of-District (Testing outside of the 4 HPISD testing windows)
Out-of-District exams may only be taken outside of the regular HPISD exam for acceleration testing windows (see link above called Exam for Acceleration Testing Information). The tests are online and taken remotely. Limitations in testing dates may apply. Complete the application below for HPISD approval to register for an out-of-district exam. The Assessment Department will contact you regarding approval of the registration.
