Grade 2 Summer Work

Below is a list of some of the most pivotal skills your child learned this past school year. To help your child be successful in math next year, he or she should practice these skills over the summer.

  • Count within 1000; skip count by 5s, 10s, 100s

  • Fluently add and subtract within 20

  • Understand that the digits of a three-digit number represents hundreds, tens, ones.

  • Compare two 3 digit numbers using >, =, and <.

  • Mentally add/subtract 10 or 100 to a given number.

  • Add and subtract within 1000 (Using concrete models, place value, algorithm)

  • Read and write 3 digit numbers using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.

  • Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems.
