The overall purpose of any ELA class is essentially to improve your ability to communicate with the world. We want to improve your ability to understand what others have written or said aloud, and to improve your ability to speak and write so that others understand your thoughts and ideas.

By the end of this class, students will be able to:

Read fiction and nonfiction works with a deeper understanding.

Write expository and argumentative paragraphs and essays to clearly convey ideas.

Improve your understanding of literary concepts and how they interact in a plot.

Improve your vocabulary through context.
