This course focuses on English Language Arts and Common Core Learning Standards, including reading literature, reading informational texts, argumentative writing, narrative writing, and informational writing. The goal is individual student improvement and mastery in these areas. By the end of the school year, your child will be able to:
Write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence (6.W.1)
Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through relevant content selection, organization, and analysis (6.W.2)
Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective techniques, descriptive details, and sequencing (6.W.3)
