Popper Penguin's Piano Challenge: Write down your own rhythm without using paper or pencil! Mrs. Miller made a Ta (quarter note) with a stick and a dandelion! You could use pennies and toothpicks! Popsicle sticks make great Ta-di’s (2 eighth notes.) You could even use Legos!
Have fun finding things to make your own rhythm patterns! Look at the worksheets to remember what our Ta, Ta-di, and other notes look like.
Miss you! Love, Mrs. Miller
Hi! I miss you all so much!!! I have been in touch with other music teacher friends. I found out that all over America music teachers are giving their students weekly music challenges. Here is yours for this week!
Write your own rhythm pattern using any of the rhythm notes we have learned. Do not use paper and pencil. Make your rhythm pattern out of things you can find around your house: Example: Use a rubber band for a whole note; or, make a ta-ka-di-mi out of sticks from your yard. You could even use Lego pieces. Get creative! When you are finished, perform your new rhythm masterpiece!
Until next week... Mrs. Music Miller

Link to worksheet #1: Grandma's House
Link to worksheet #2: Piano with Alphabet Names
Look at worksheet #1. It’s Grandma’s House (the three black keys) and Dog House (the 2 black keys)! Someone lives in each white note. Tell me who lives in each piano key (example: Cat lives on the C note). Now look at worksheet #2, the piano with only alphabet names. Can you think of something else that starts with C that could visit that note? Draw a picture of it. Do the same for each alphabet note.
I miss you! Mrs. Miller and Popper and Pepper !
Look at the worksheet. It has Middle C, Delicate D (under the bottom line), Elegant E (it lives on the bottom line,) Fancy F (it lives in the bottom space) and Grizzly Bear G (it lives on line number 2.) Remember, we count the lines and spaces on the staff from the bottom to the top. If 2 white notes live next door to each other and you play them (C to D,) you moved by a step. If you skip a note in between (C to E,) you moved by a skip. You will notice a step moves from a line to a space or a space to a line. Skips move from a space to a space or a line to a line. Write down the answers to the worksheet on a piece of notebook paper.
Make Up a Game Challenge:
Draw the 5 lines and 4 spaces on a sidewalk with chalk and think of challenges. Example: Can you skip from line 1 to line 4 and keep your balance? Or, Throw a bean bag from far away and land it on line 3!!! I cannot wait to hear what your challenges were. We could try some of these as a class the next time I see you!!!
Mrs. Miller misses you!!! Let me know if you have questions.
