Developing your own visual reference photos is a great way to ensure that you are creating unique compositions that are all of your own making. In this sub unit you will be looking at how to set up lighting in a studio and setting up objects to photograph [still life]. These photographs will then be used to explore different media and compositions.
You will be working in the photo studio in pairs to create a photographic body of work based on Bricks and Blocks.
You will need to select at least 10-15 interesting and successful compositions [which may mean 30-40 photos from which you select your best!]
You will need to complete two photoshoots
lego/duplo blocks
mindfulness stacking blocks or drawing blocks
Use the checklist, teacher demonstration and examples to complete a wide range of photos for each photoshoot.
Repeat each one of these multiple times using various light sources [single or double]
a single Block on white background
a single block on black background
a single block with 2 colour background
multiple blocks on white background
multiple blocks on black background
multiple blocks on 2 colour background
Try and complete as much editing on your phone as you can before the next step. Do not over edit your images, but some will need you to adjust lighting/contrast or to use the built in filters like "vivid" or "dramatic" or "mono". You can duplicate photos if you want a colour and B&W version [or you can do this in slides later on..].. do you know how to copy and paste edits to multiple photos?
Create a folder in your google drive and upload all of your photos to this drive. if you shared a camera please ensure you share the folder with your partner so they have access to the images.
Using Google Slides and insert 1/page of your best example minimum for each checklist item from each photoshoot.
