Where are we going?
This task will bring together all the skills we have learnt from line and observation, value and shading. You will demonstrate your skills in this area by creating an origami piece and photographing it to draw from. Here are some examples of student work for this task
remember to KEEP IT LIGHT TILL ITS RIGHT!
no dark lines until it looks correct - if you need to erase your drawing too dark!
Origami Drawing summary
SIZE: A4
MEDIA: any dry drawing media white or toned paper
select either a crane, fox or a duck to create with an origami square [white]. Or you could do a fancy paper airplane or other object if you know how to make it
follow the instructions to create your animal.
using your phone, take a photo from straight on [slightly elevated]. Convert the photo to grey scale and print it to A4 size.
Use the grid method to lightly draw your outlines to drawing paper [remove all evidence of the grid]
use a full range of values and shading skills to render your drawing to show shape, space and edges.
start light and build up
focus on each individual shape first up
refer to your value scale against your photo AND drawing
use a range of pencil and shading skills to render the folded "edges" of the paper
use an eraser to add in highlights and details
EXTENSION: render your drawing in reverse value using White pencil on black paper

use Black and white pencil on a toned [grey or Brown] paper
