To determine eligibility for special education service a student suspected of a disability will be evaluated by a multidisciplinary evaluation team (MET).

An IEP is a written document or plan that lays out the program of special education instruction, supports and services students need to feel successful and thrive in school. Each program is designed to meet each individual student's unique needs. Both the program and written plan are part of the special education law or the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Included in an IEP specialized services , depending on student's needs, social work, speech and language, occupational therapy, and/or physical therapy.

A REED document the process of reviewing of existing evaluation data. The may include evaluation and information provided by parents of the child, current classroom based, local or state assessments. It also includes classroom-based observations, by teachers and other staff members.
A PBSP outlines the supports and strategies to be utilized by the IEP team to decrease the incidence of problem behaviors through proactive and positive means. The team comes together to develop the PBSP once and understanding of the function of the interfering behavior and the ancident that comes before the behavior
