We had a packed day full of travel, a visit to the Marshes of Glynn to write poetry, The Earth Day nature trail to see wildlife, and Sidney Lanier Park. We settled into our cabins and finished the day with a delicious meal at Epworth and a beautiful sunset!

We spent the day on Sapelo Island today! We took a ferry over to the island and then hopped on a bus guided by Maurice, a Sapelo descendent. We saw many historical sites on the island, visited the Sapelo lighthouse, learned about local agriculture, walked through the beautiful white sand at Nanny-goat Beach, and toured the island. We all had a wonderful day full of learning about the history of Sapelo and the people who have lived there. We finished the day with a great meal, some free time at the cabins and another amazing sunset walk!

We started the day on Jekyll Island visiting the Georgia Sea Turtle Center where we saw a live alligator procedure and turtlke feedings. We also enjoyed exploring Driftwood Beach on Jekyll. We then ventured to St. Simons, where we learned about marine life and ecology on the beaches and marshes from our wonderful guide, Ms. Georgia! We found countless crabs and snails, a live egg casing, went net fishing in the tidal pool, and some brave students sampled some edible plants.

We had another wonderful day on the coast! We started the day with an amazing morning kayaking trip in the marsh. We had so much fun and the weather was PERFECT! After a pizza picnic lunch by the pier in Neptune Park, we had an informative tour of the St. Simon's lighthouse and the keepers dwelling and then climbed to the top. all 129 stairs! The views from the top were amazing! Afterwards, we enjoyed exploring the village on St. Simons. After our time in the village we toured and learned about the history of Fort Frederica and took photos at Christ Church. After that we went to Frosty's for a delicious last dinner on the island. We capped off a great day with the best night beach walk ever! We laughed so much we cried (in a good way), and we may have gotten a bit wet. While we’re sad to leave tomorrow, we can’t wait to tell our families about our amazing adventure!
