The IB Learner Profile is a set of ten attributes that guide the development of internationally minded students and support the mission of the International Baccalaureate (IB). These attributes—inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and reflective—represent the qualities that IB learners strive to develop in order to contribute positively to their communities and the world. In a Primary Years Programme (PYP) school, the Learner Profile is central to all teaching and learning. It shapes the curriculum, informs school culture, and supports students in becoming active, compassionate, and lifelong learners. Teachers intentionally model and integrate the attributes into daily lessons, classroom routines, and assessment practices, helping students reflect on their growth and set goals. The Learner Profile is also used to build a shared language among students, staff, and families, fostering a respectful and inclusive school environment. By consistently emphasizing these attributes, PYP schools nurture students who not only excel academically but also act ethically and think critically about their role in the world.
