Our band and guitar programs here at Lanier are amazing programs. Band or guitar take up your art elective. They are amazing choices for musically inclined students and even students who aren't. Both are great options for your student. In band there are instruments like, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, tuba, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, drums, assorted percussion instruments, marimba, xylophone, trumpet, trombone, French horn, and euphonium.
Beginners band is the choice for many. It's the very first band if your student has no prior experience with any of the instruments in the band. Expect them to play twice a year with the spring concert and the winter concert, though, students in extracurricular bands, like, Polka, Jazz, Klezmer and Mariachi may play multiple times a year.
The symphonic band is the best band for intermediate players. To get in you must have memorized the C concert scale, F concert scale, G concert scale, Db concert scale, Ab concert scale, Eb concert scale, Bb concert scale and the chromatic scale. Symphonic band play around 3 times a year at the Hauntcert, winter concert and spring concert, but they may play more if they're extracurricular bands.
The Honors band is the top band that is advanced and receive harder pieces of music. In Honors, you have to play chromatic scale , and the 12 major scales, a.k.a the C concert scale, F concert scale, G concert scale, Db concert scale, Ab concert scale, Eb concert scale, Bb concert scale, F# concert scale, B concert scale, E concert scale, A concert scale, D concert scale and the Chromatic scale. The honors band plays around 4 times a year, ant the renascence concert, Hauntcert, winter concert, and spring concert. They may play more though iof they are in any extracuricular band.
