Hi, my name is Ava Askew, and I am delighted to be teaching Language and Literature in Lanier’s 7L (super-star) cluster. I’m excited to meet my new students and get to know them. It is my passion to help students become accomplished, life-long readers and writers, so that they can develop a powerful and positive voice in the world. As a native Houstonian, I too attended LMS, and I’m very proud to be a Purple Pup! After graduating from the University of Houston, I moved to Ireland where I married and raised a beautiful family in a small village in the shadow of the Ballyhoura mountains of Co. Limerick, Ireland. After many years, we decided to return to Houston, to be close to family and allow my daughter to come join the Purple Pup community at Lanier. I have been teaching ELA at Lanier for many years, and I always appreciate working with parents as a team to help our children find success. I’m confident that we will have a great year together.
