Characteristics of EBs at various levels of English Proficiency
The following chart summarizes the listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills of students at the various levels of English proficiency.
Linguistic Accommodations
According to TEA, linguistic accommodations are language supports that decrease the language barrier EBs experience when learning and demonstrating knowledge and skills in English. Instructional accommodations for EBs are determined by the classroom teacher based on the students' proficiency level. The LPAC (Language Proficiency Assessment Committee) may recommend certain accommodations based upon subjective teacher input from previous years' teachers.
