Schedule
Most classes visit the library once a week. The table below shows when each teacher is scheduled to visit. Students may also come to the library at the beginning of the day before 8:25.
Library Enrichment Schedule
For classes that have the library on their enrichment rotation, I try to keep a set schedule to ensure students have time to explore literature, experiment, and have fun.
Read-aloud: The Read-aloud sets the tone for the class. The picture books I choose to feature are by diverse authors and describe a variety of experiences and topics.
Activity: The activity is based on the read-aloud. It could include writing, drawing, creating, or building.
Check-out & Read: During every class, students have time to find a book, check it out from the library, and read.
Free Choice Stations: If time allows, students have time to explore their interests. Students can build and create in the Maker Space, practice drawing in the Art Station, build something with Legos and a variety of blocks, grow their imaginations with a variety of materials, or simply continue reading.
Clean Up: The library belongs to the BCS community, so it is important that students take responsibility and clean up after themselves.
