For sale is a partially-disassembled, 95% complete 1966 Chevrolet Impala station wagon. The vehicle is currently owned by its second owner. The original owner named the vehicle "Betsy".
The sale includes virtually all papoer work from the original sale. It was purchased in December 1965 in Roswell, New Mexico, from Roswell Valley Chevrolet. The original deal tag is sitll on it, albiet it is partially broken.
This car has approximately 290,000 miles. It includes the original 396, which has never been rebuilt.
The car was sold to the current owner in 2004. That bill of sale is included. It was transported to Massachusetts, where Betsy has been garaged for the past 22 years.
After purchase , over 10,000 dollars was invested in suspension rebuilding and a conversion to front disc brakes and a dual master cylinder.
I (second owner) had drove Betsy for about 2 years and added several thousand miles. It was a joy, but it needed a full engine restoration and my plan was to upgrade the transmission to a 4-speed auto from the 3-speed auto. After partial disassembly, we needed to move to a new home to accomidate a child with additional learning needs. Around 14 years ago, additional health concerns hit the family. Betsy has been undriven and untouched in 17 years. This was not the plan. She did not deserve to be disassembled like she was, but this was life. She needs a new home and a loving owner(s).
Key features from the factory include air conditioning, the 396 turbo jet, and a rear tailgate with a power window.
