Last week our Early Years children took part in a fantastic workshop led by the NHS all about the importance of looking after our teeth. The children learned that we should brush our teeth for two minutes in the morning and two minutes in the evening, and discussed how eating too many sugary foods can harm our teeth.
The children were incredibly enthusiastic to share their ideas and ask questions and we are all very proud of how well they represented our school!
We are also delighted to share that our full-time Nursery children will now be taking part in a daily tooth-brushing programme after lunch. This is a wonderful opportunity to build good habits that will support their health and well-being for years to come.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us promote healthy smiles.

Families are invited to the 'Little Shop of Horrors', taking place at the Ryan Theatre, Harrow on the Hill, on 8, 9 and 10 December at 7.00pm. A vibrant comedy musical with bold, cartoon-style storytelling, the show follows Seymour and his mysterious plant, Audrey II, as events spiral into darkly humorous chaos.
While the production is playful in tone, parents are advised it does include scenes where parental discretion is advised, especially for younger or sensitive children. To find our more and to book, please click the link here: Little Shop of Horrors
How Your Stress and Emotions Affect Your Child
Children are deeply sensitive to the feelings of the adults around them—especially their parents and carers. When you’re feeling stressed, anxious, or upset, your child can pick up on these emotions, even if you don’t say anything. This can sometimes make children feel worried, confused, or unsafe.
Your emotional wellbeing plays a big role in helping your child feel secure and supported. When parents manage their stress well, it creates a calmer, more stable environment that benefits the whole family.
🧠 Signs Your Child May Be Affected
If you are going through a stressful time, your child might:
Become more clingy or withdrawn
Show changes in behaviour, such as irritability or mood swings
Have trouble sleeping or eating
Experience difficulties concentrating at school
Express worries or fears indirectly
How Parents and Carers can manage stress for everyone's benefit
Recognise your feelings
It’s okay to feel stressed or upset. Acknowledge your emotions rather than pushing them away.
Take care of yourself
Prioritise self-care: rest, exercise, healthy eating, and time for activities you enjoy.
Model healthy coping
Show your child how you manage stress calmly — through deep breathing, talking, or taking breaks.
Communicate openly
Explain your feelings in simple terms and reassure your child it’s not their fault.
Maintain routines
Predictable daily schedules help children feel safe even when adults are stressed.
Ask for support
Reach out to friends, family, or professionals if you need help managing your emotions.
Sometimes we could all do with someone to talk to.
