When looking for local pūrākau, we found this wonderful pūrākau on the
Te Taumutu Rūananga website. We have retold the story -reading the text directly from their website, with their permission.

With many talented artists in our Kiriwai class, this was an opportunity to utilise Sketches School to create the backgrounds, the fish, many of the animals, and the ākonga's interpretation of the Atua in this pūrākau.
Three ākonga then used the drawings to animate and form the story retell using Keynote.  Ākonga collated their mahi into one iMovie and narrated the pūrākau.

This precious pūrākau has been brought to life by ākonga, using a range of digital tools to create their digital outcome. Through this process, they now have a better understanding of pūrākau and a connection to the local area, viewed through a mātauranga Māori lens.
