Have a discussion about why we have senses.
Go outside and find a tree (I like the big ones by the volleyball court).
Place your hand on the tree.
Close your eyes and use your senses to take in what is around you for 1 minute (no talking).
Then discuss what your senses detected - sound, smell, touch etc…
In groups of two or three make a poster about 6 senses. The five we have, what they do and why we have them (a lot comes down to survival), and then you can make up a 6th sense that you think would be useful to have. If you cannot think of a 6th then you can research to see if any other living thing has additional senses e.g.tuatara and incorporate that.
(If you create a poster digitally, please share me into the file as an editor.)
If you don’t want to make a poster, they could make a song and record it about senses or use your imagination and create something unique!
If you have finished early, research animals that have different senses to humans e.g. the tuatara. Make a report on animal senses.
