What is 'Snail Mail'
What is the purpose of it in current times?
Is it good or bad?
We are going to take a look into the story and work of Edward Gorey who had a long relationship of sending letters to his best friend Peter (among also being an author)
We are going to think about the style of his work and have a go at recreating one of his characters focussing on using mark making techniques with an ink pen.
Task 1: Watch the video of cartoon character creation. Draw either yourself or the trade with the person next to you and draw each other as a cartoon!
Exaggerate your features and make it look cute/silly. We will finish these off with the ink pens.
Whar size head?
What clothing?
What will the hair look like?
What facial feature will you make look more silly/bigger?
Are you wanting cute? Scary? Gorey? Comical?
Task 1: We are going to be designing an envelope for our letter. There are 2 ways you can do this:
1- You can design it digitally using them template in your drive folder
2- You can create this physically with the printed templates.
There are lots of ideas on the link if you want to check them out.
The main thing is that it should reflect the person you are sending your letter to.
What does it mean to be grateful?
We are now into the writing and ideas part of our letter project. Use the draft template in your drive folders to draft out your ideas for your letter.
We will mostl ikely write these by hand aas that makes them more special but you can keep it digitial if you want to.
There is also a video here of ideas for you to think about designing your letter.
You will need to leave space for the writing but the rest is up to you.
