Learn - Ako - To know: Now that we have out basic understand of what exactly the elements are, we can start to apply our creativity to them
Create - Waihanga - To act:
We are going to create an A3 drawing page demonstrating all of these elements. Your theme is up to you. See the examples below to get some inspiration. I have also got a range of textures for you to do some rubbings of in a section of your page as well.

Lesson 1: Use this resource to write this information into your journals:
1) What are the three primary colours?
2) What are the three secondary colours?
3) Why do you think we call them secondary colours?
4) Why do you think the three arrows next to analogous colours points to that range of colours?
5) What do you think analogous means, based on this?
Use the colours to blend together 3 analogous colours in your journals

Create a blog post from your work today
Start with an interesting title.
See if you can use a first sentence that catches your reader.
Explain what you have been asked to do today
Include photos from your webcam of your work, and screenshots or downloaded jpegs of digital work.
Explain each image.
Reflect on what went well, what didn't and what you would do differently

Lesson 1:
Create a colour wheel with coloured pencils. We are only using three pencils - red, blue and yellow.
How are we going to make green, orange and purple?
There is a template here that you can draw for yourself or trace from your screen - be careful to not push hard on your screen.
Complete it as a lovely colour wheel.
Lesson 2:
Using coloured pencils only, create a colour value scale for single colours in warm and cool tones as well as complementary colours.
Then have a go at colouring a sphere with shadows and highlights using a base colour and analogous tones within it.
See the exemplars for direction.
Lesson 1: We are going to start with creating our own do now workbooks for our drawing mindfuness and decorating the covers. These will be what we start our lessons with for the first 10 minutes.
Lesson 2: Draw a line to represent happy
Draw a line to represent angry
Draw a line to represent fading away
Date this page, be prepared to scan it later.

What do we know about the elements of art?
What can you tell me about line?
Create - Waihanga - To Act:
Go through the 4 activities in the slides to develop your understanding of how line can be used for different purposes.

What is shape and form? What is the difference?
Create - Waihanga - To Act:
Complete the shading task on the shapes
Now, choose an object from the shelf. Draw it as just the outline of the shape - no detail at all. Pick something that reflects your skill level.
Now draw it again with shading and 3 dimensions. Remember to pay attention to your light source.
We are going to create still life compositions on each workspace to draw. We need to have a range of different shapes and levels to these. We are going to draw these with shape and take a picture of them. Then we are going to add form by introducing TONE
Have a go at a blind contour drawing of your hand.
Learn - Ako - To know:
Lesson 1: Draw. I want you to start drawing on a page and keep drawing for a full 10 minutes. You can draw what ever you want. You must draw for the full amount of time.
Date the drawing and stop when your teacher says to draw. Then watch the video below about ‘automatic drawing’
Lesson 2: Using a 6B pencil in your mindful journals, have a go at a tonal gradation like the picture below.
Create - Waihanga - To Act:
1) After watching ‘Automatic Drawing’, how would you approach your do now differently? On your visual diary page, have another go. Your teacher will give you 5 minutes to do this.
Our Drawing Challenge
We are going to create our own tone drawings like the ones in the video. Start with a continuous line - it needs to touch the sides and cross over.

Take a photo of all of your drawings from this week on your chromebook.
Webcamtoy works well enough for this. Make sure you put the photos in your art folder. You will need these images.
What did you learn about tone and shading?
