Plastic means more than the material we make things of. It means moldable, adaptable. In the 20th Century it was used to begin to describe the material we now call plastic.
Auguste Herbin is an artist who created a colour/shape alphabet to make paintings with. Look at this work, can you ‘decode’ it?

How do we use acrylic paint? What do we need to have to have the best set up workspace?
“L’Alphabet Plastique” the plastic alphabet.
We are goig to pick one of our compositons to paint onto paint paper.
You will need to select a background colour that complements your composition and paint the whole page first.
Then you are going to pencil on your lines lightly as a guide. You will need to paint a few layers of colour on for it to be successful. We need to remember to use a ruler and circular objects to get the best outcome - remember this is a very geometric and structured composition.
If you have a lighter colour, you might want to paint white first so it shows up well against your background.
Save your google drawing as a JPG as well as taking a photo of your final painting.
