Congratulations on being hired as a volunteer coach with the Hopkins County Schools system. There are several things we must do before you can attend a practice or contest and those steps are listed below. Please note that you are responsible for the cost (subject to change) of

WHAT YOU MUST COMPLETE
NOTE: all must be completed and approved before the coach can attend a practice or contest. Once we have everything completed and on file, we will notify you so you can begin your coaching duties.
Copy of your driver's license and social security card and high school diploma and/or college transcript
For a HS coaching position, if you do not have at least 64 college credits, you are required to complete the NFHS courses listed at the end of this document.
Child Neglect and Abuse (CA/N) report
You are required to get a background check, Child Neglect and Abuse (CA/N) report. Below are the instructions for completing the CA/N background check for Hopkins County Schools. If you recently completed a CA/N check, you should be able to login and print and/or email the completed document.

Once you have created your account and verified it, you will log in.
Select CAN tile and verification.
Select DPP 156 from the forms tab at the top of the page.
Select Public school employee.
For the ENTITY REQUESTING INFORMATION section
Enter the board address, Hopkins Co Board of Ed, 320 S Seminary St, Madisonville, 42431 and check the box at the bottom authorizing them to share the results with cindy.barnhill@hopkins.kyschools.us
Upload your driver's license.
After you have entered all information and hit save, it should take you to a page where you will enter your payment information. The fee is $10.00.
You should receive an email once the report has completed. This could take anywhere from 3-10 days. Once you have gotten the report back, open it and save it in a PDF format, and email it to me, please.
Log in and in the top left, click on DASHBOARD
In the bottom right, click PRINT
In the top right, click VIEW REPORT
In the top middle, click the disk and then save as PDF

There is no password for SafeSchools.
We will monitor completion of them online.
NOTE: If you are wanting to work with teams prior to July 1, you will have to complete the current safe schools videos AND will have to complete them again after July 1 for the year.

You will need to log into talented records to complete some online hiring paperwork. Go to the following link and use the username/password listed below:

Coaching Requirements (high school and middle school coaches)
CPR/AED/First Aid; reimbursed/paid for by school; send your school athletic administrator the invoice for reimbursement.

KHSAA Sports Safety Course (KHSAA Video Tutorial)
HS coach

Scroll down to the bottom to the bottom and you will see KMS/KHSAA Sports Safety Module 1. You will need to complete all 8 Modules.
MS coach
will click on the MIDDLE SCHOOL at https://khsaa.org/safety_course/ button and send certificate to AD and Mr. Bell
NOTE: your certification must be current at all times. If it expires, you are ineligible for any coaching duties.
NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Reimbursed by school
NOTE: this is for high school coaches only. It is a one time course. If you have completed it from a prior school system, it will carry over.
High School Coaches Only
If you have less than 64 college hours, you must complete the following at your own expense www.nfhslearn.com.
Teaching Sports Skills OR a sport specific course
KHSAA annual rules clinic for sport coaching (open during season)
FINAL STEP:
The HR department will reach out to you and notify you when you have been officially processed.
Once you have all requirements and paperwork complete, you will receive notification that you may begin performing coaching duties. You are not permitted to be on the field with students until you receive the notification that you are cleared.
