Saucy's BBQ

Saucy's is an award winning locally owned BBQ restaurant with great food in a warm environment.

Saucy's is a locally owned restaurant. There are only two Saucy’s locations. One is in Hopewell, VA and the other is in Petersburg, VA. They were not always in a restaurant. According to co-owner Liz McCormack, they “Started from scratch in a shipping container [and] started with just BBQ chips and soda and had to expand.” For the first year or so all they had was BBQ soda and chips, and people were driving and walking over to get or try their food. They are open from 11am to 8pm every day except Sunday.

Saucy’s is best known for its award-winning food. They were Southern Living Magazine's choice as the South's Best Butt twice. Many people were getting their savory BBQ and when they tried to enter a contest it only took 2 years to win the contest and the best BBQ award and they only had to try twice for it so they didn’t have to change the recipe much at all.

The environment at Saucy’s is peaceful and calming. The owner's aim for a family atmosphere. The outside of the restaurant looks inviting. The sign and the building match. As you walk up the BBQ smells get stronger, but when you open the door the BBQ smell hits you but in a pleasant way, and it looks nice and inside. Whether you go inside, eat outside or go in the drive thru you are greeted with kind and polite employees.

If you haven’t tried Saucy’s BBQ in Hopewell or Petersburg, now is the time. You can order your own food in person, you can order online with their website, and you can call them if you have questions at (804) 504-3075 or email them.
