1. “Me and My Brother” 5ive, 2022
Whenever I'm upset, I rely on this song to get me through that situation. The artist sings it in a way that helps connect with loss of someone close. Most people go through closing someone close to them at some point in life, such as parents, siblings, or spouses. This song can help others in the way it's helped me deal with loss.
2. “God’s Country” Blake Shelton, 2019
This makes people think about the land where we live and reflect on the old days. A lot of young people from my city don't listen to this genre of music. They should try to listen to songs like this because it offers variety. This song talks about the history of the land, and keeping it clean and beautiful would benefit everyone. This is escpecially true for Hopewell where we live so close to water sources. We need to take the time to clean things up here, and this song is about appreciating what the land offers.
3. “My Kind of Party” Jason Aldeen, 2010
This song puts me in a party mood. While the first two songs are valuable because of the lyrics, this song is great because of its beat. If you're on your way to a tailgate or a bonfire this song will set the tone. It has a moderate pace and you don't have to blast it on the speakers to enjoy it, as you do for some party songs. Everyone can relate to this vibe because everybody celebrates some things through life.
4. “Got What I Got” Jason Aldeen, 2019
This song makes asks questions that I ask myself every day. It makes you think about the person you want to be with for your future, whether that's a girl or boy you care about. It makes me think of someone close to me. Everybody has someone they love or want to have in their life even if they can't, and this song connects to that feeling.
5. “Dirt Road Anthem” Jason Aldeen, 2010
Everyone should hear "Dirt Road Anthem" because it's peaceful and makes you feel like you're in the country taking in the beautiful scenery. It makes you think about the moments to cherish in life.
6. “Broadway Girls” Lil Durk, 2022
This song talks staying away from certain types of girls. It forces people to think about who to choose to be with because some people might just be interested in you for money and others actually love having you in their presence. This is something everyone should be careful about, so this song offers a wise lesson.
7. “Heartless" Diplo (Fet. Morgan Wallen), 2020
This song makes me think about the the struggle of reaching out to someone who doesn't respond. When you want to open up to someone and they shut you off. Everyone can relate to that depressing emotion and this song makes you feel less alone. It feels to cry to this song because it helps release those negative emotions. Listening to music is a healthier way to deal with emotions than hard drugs and alcohol that some people rely on.
8. “Girl of My Dreams” Rod Wave , 2020
People often build up a fantasy person in their heads who is perfect in every way. This song teaches us to appreciate when we have people in our lives who love us. In the case of this song, it's focused on appreciating a significant other.
9. “Rages to Riches” Rod Wave , 2020
This song makes me want to work hard because the artist has come a long way. It teaches us that we can better our lives and work hard to achieve a better future. It makes me want to reach my goals and inspires me to be better. This artist raps but he speaks from the heart and shares his love rather than focusing on gangbanging like other rap artists.
10. “Ghetto Angels” NoCap, 2019
This is another song that gets emotional and makes you think about the ones you've lost. While that can be sad, it also makes us think about the people who are still with us in spirit and who are protecting us. So it's a song that's both sad and comforting because it encourages us to value our loved ones.
