1. "It's not the size of the dog in the fight; it's the size of the fight in the dog." -Mark Twain
This quote tells us that things like size are not as important as who has more spark, fight, and motivation. This is encouraging for athletes who are not naturally the biggest and strongest, but it can be applied to anything in life where you doubt yourself because of your physical ability.
2. "Don't wait. The time will never be just right." -Napoleon Hill
Young people should hear this because sometimes we wait for too long, and at some point, we all have to take a risk to get what we want. If you wait too long because you're scared of taking that risk you could completely miss the opportunity. You're therefore taking a risk either way, but we know for a fact that opportunities don't last forever.
3. "Work smarter, not harder!" -Allen F. Morgenstern
People should know about this quote because people shouldn't stress themselves physically over-work if they can take their time and think of a better solution.
4. "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink."
-John Heywood's proverb collection of 1546
Everyone should be familiar with this quote because you can try to help someone but you can never force them to take the steps they need to do for themselves. As mentioned in my #5 choice, in order to improve, people ultimately have to do it themselves. This is good to know if you're being stubborn or if you're the one trying to help and getting frustrated by a stubborn person.
5. "I'm starting with the man in the mirror; I'm asking him to change his ways." -Michael Jackson
People should hear this quote because if we're going down a bad path, we have to look at ourselves because no one else can change for us. We have to want to change ourselves in order to improve.
