The Symphonic Band is the larger of the concert bands at Spain Park. Membership is open to all students and is based upon audition results. The Symphonic Band performs in a Fall-semester concert, two Spring-Semester Concerts, and Music Performance Assessment.
Chamber Winds is the premier instrumental ensemble at Spain Park High School. Membership is by audition during the spring semester; All band students are eligible for membership. The Chamber Winds performs advanced wind band literature, and its members are held to a high standard. The band has gained recognition for its quality in the school’s short history, including an invitational performance at the 2019 Alabama Music Educators' Association Conference.
The marching band at Spain Park is known as the Pride of the Park. Made up of winds, percussion, majorettes, color guard, and the Sapphires dance team, the Pride of the Park is the largest of the ensembles at Spain Park. They can be seen and heard in the stands and at halftime at Finley Stadium on Friday nights, at marching contests, and parades. The PotP has performed in numerous national parades. Most recently the Pride of the Park traveled to Orlando, FL to perform at the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Park.
Shades of Blue is the jazz ensemble at Spain Park. Acceptance to Shades of Blue is by audition. The band routinely performs at local venues, entertaining audiences with America’s music both old and new. Spain Park Percussion Ensembles are made up of the Percussionists at Spain Park High School. These are percussion-only ensembles that participate in the Symphonic Band and Chamber Winds, but who also perform on their own. Percussion ensembles vary in size and disposition, and they are determined by audition results.
