Junior Year:
August/September
--Look over the CAS information on this site
--Group meeting with CAS coordinator
--Create your CAS site and set up its basic organization
--Link your CAS site back to your IB Learner Portfolio home page
--Begin thinking about the types of activities/experiences that you can add to your site (and, perhaps, go ahead and start documenting some of that)
Completion of all of the above by October 1st will earn students a 10/10 on CAS Checkpoint for ToK 11.
October/November
--Continue to engage in and record CAS experiences
--Start to develop an idea for your CAS project
December
--By December 1, you must have at least one CAS activity documented with a description, evidence, and reflection (all of qualifying length) on your CAS site.
--Also by this date, you must have at least 10 hours properly documented in at least one of the three strands.
Completion of all of the above by December 1st will earn students a 10/10 on CAS Checkpoint for ToK 11.
January - March
--Submit written proposal for your CAS Project
--Upon approval, include your proposal document on your CAS site
--Add at least one new CAS experience with a description, evidence, and reflection (so you should have a total of 2 experiences properly documented now).
--Communicate with CAS coordinator as needed
--By March 1st, you must have at least 20 hours properly documented (with at least 10 hours properly documented in at least two of the three strands).
Completion of all of the above by March 1st will earn students a 10/10 on CAS Checkpoint for ToK 11.
March - May
--Get started on your CAS Project
--Add at least one new CAS experience with a description, evidence, and reflection
--By May 1st, you should have at least three completed CAS experiences with descriptions, evidence and reflections on your CAS site.
--Also by this date, you must have at least 30 hours properly documented (with at least 10 hours properly documented in each of the three strands).
--communicate with CAS coordinator as needed
Completion of all of the above by May 1st will earn students a 10/10 on CAS Checkpoint for ToK 11.
Summer Before Senior Year:
Summer-August
--Continue working on CAS activities, experiences, and documentation
--Work on (or complete) your CAS project!
--Stay in touch with CAS Coordinator as needed
By the first day of their senior year, students should have at least four CAS experiences (representing at least 70 hours total with at least 20 hours in each of the three strands) properly (and completely) documented on their CAS site.
Adequate progress on CAS and the EE are required for continuation in the IB Diploma program.
Senior Year:
August/September
--Individual conference with CAS coordinator
--Each 9 weeks, document on your CAS site at least one new CAS experience with description, evidence and reflection.
--By December 1st, you should have at least five CAS experiences documented on your site (this may include your CAS Project)
As before, completion of CAS documentation will earn students a 10/10 on CAS Checkpoint for each 9 weeks grade for ToK 12.
Jan/ Feb:
--Document at least one new CAS experience with description, evidence and reflection.
-- By the end of the 3rd nine weeks of your senior year, your CAS record should include at least six experiences and address all 7 of the learning outcomes for CAS in your reflections. You should have logged at least 150 hours total, and you should have at least 50 hours associated with each of the three strands of CAS.
March:
--Complete CAS project by March 1st --
--Final CAS interview with CAS coordinator in early- to mid-March.
