Here at Honywood, our careers programme encourages learners to be ambitious, broaden their horizons and explore their own career aspirations.
The provision is designed to develop confidence and independence, it aims to remove barriers to ensure readiness to take their next step in their learning or career.
The objectives for the careers programme are as follows:
• Helping learners to understand the changing world of work
• Facilitating meaningful encounters with employers for all learners
• Enabling learners to develop the research skills to discover opportunities, independently
• Providing guidance when making GCSE subject choices (C8)
• Supporting positive transitions (Post-16)
• Developing the skills, attitudes and qualities to make a successful transition into the world of work
• Encouraging lifelong learning, progression to HE and Degree apprenticeships
• Equality of opportunity, individuality, challenging stereotypes
• Contributing to strategies for raising achievement, particularly by increasing motivation.
Events are held throughout the year in a variety of areas including FE application support, Lunch with a…, Interview skills and work experience/shadowing.
