2025 ICDC Results
Anna Aldrich and Amelia Wagner traveled to Orlando, FL for this years ICDC Conference. Anna score a 90 on her written event and role play, placing in the top 40 out of 200 teams. It is a major accomplishment in itself to make it to the conference, let alone place as high as Anna did. Anna has also started her journey as the New York State Vice President of Communications. Amelia Wagner score over an 80% on her written test, which gained her recognition at the conference as well. We have officially closed out the 2024-2025 DECA year. Our new officers are in place, signed their agreements, and have started the preparations for the 2025-2026 DECA year. Keep an eye out all summer for updates and activities. It is our goal to be as involved in the community as ever this year. We have some very exciting things in store for the future, so stay tuned!
2025 SCC Results
During the first week of March (3/5-3/7) the Homer DECA Business Club traveled to Rochester, New York with 9 students for their state career conference and competition. Out of those 9 students, 2 of them will be competing at the International Career Conference in Orlando, Florida from 4/25-4/30. Anna Aldrich placed 3rd in her category out of over 60 teams. Catelyn Ensign was rewarded a top 10 testing medal as well. Amelia Wagner has been chosen as a bump up and will be competing in the Principles of Business Administration event in Orlando with Anna Aldrich competing with her Innovation Business Plan. Anna Aldrich was also elected as the New York DECA Vice President of Communications. Anna ran a successful campaign against 19 other students with the help of her campaign manager, Amelia Wagner as well as the other Homer and Region 9 students that were in attendance. We are proud of the hard work and dedication of all of our DECA members. We also want to thank the community and administration for their continued encouragement and support.
National DECA Recognition
Our club was awarded 4 seats to the Thrive Academy (leadership/professional development class for high school students specific to DECA and business) at ICDC in Orlando in April (4/26-4/29). They will also be recognized on stage during the week-long event for their efforts where they will receive a plaque, certificate, and flag pennant commemorating this accomplishment. 2024 Regional Competition at LeMoyne College
On December 17, 2024, the 2024-2025 Homer DECA Business Club traveled to LeMoyne College for their Regional Conference, with 29 enthusiastic students participating. We are thrilled to share that 6 of our students medaled in their events. Last year, our region recognized the top 5 finishers, but this year they only awarded medals to the top 3, making this achievement even more impressive.

Anna Aldrich (Marketing Communications Series), Ava Armstrong (Principles of Entrepreneurship), and Kennadie Taylor (Sports & Entertainment Marketing) – 2nd Place
Catelyn Ensign (Principles of Business Management & Administration) and Mackenzie Skodzinksy (Principles of Marketing) – 3rd Place
All students that participated did a phenomenal job, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication. Congratulations to all of the participants and we are excited for what the future holds for all members moving forward. We are excited and looking forward to participating in this year's State Career Conference in March with all of the students that have and will earn an opportunity to compete.

Practice, Practice, Practice
Students are currently using their practice tests to preapre for their Regional Tests the first week of December. They are also starting their Role Play preparations as well. The Bowtie Goat (videos are on youtube) has been a major help to them as they prepare for their Regional Conference. It has been a fun start to the school year and they are all excited to start competing! The love and support from the local community, especially the local businesses that have invested in our students is greatly appreciated and a huge reason for our recent success.
Cookies for First Responders
Our returning members spent Sunday 9/8/2024 baking cookies to hand out to local first responders on 9/11 to thank them for their service. Our students take great pride in showing our appreciation for those that help make our world and community a safer place.
5/22/2024 Interest Meeting
We are excited to start planning for our next school year. We have our officers in place and hosted an interest meeting with 22 students. We are excited and looking forward to build on our first 2 years as a club and continue to expand and enhance the experiences that out club offers. 2024 ICDC Results (International Career Conference (4/26-5/1)
Sophia Wineburg and Anna Aldrich spent 5 days in Anaheim, CA for the DECA ICDC conference. Sophia competed in the Hospitality and Tourism Event over a 2 day period, while Anna was a part of the Elevate Leadership Development. The students learned a ton and were able to network and meet other students from all over the world. Their experience was priceless and something that they will never forget. We are excited to start planning for next school year!
2024 ICDC (International Career Conference (4/26-5/1)
The Homer DECA Business Club is sending 2 students (Sophia Wineburg and Anna Aldrich) to Anaheim, CA for the DECA ICDC Conference. Sophia placed 4th at SCC to earn a trip and Anna was selected for the Elevate Conference for Chapter Officer development. Both students are extremely excited and this is the first time that Homer has send students to the International Conference. We want to wish both students luck as they head to the conference.
2024 State Conference Results (3/6-3/8)
The Homer DECA Business Club had their State Career Conference in Rochester, NY 3/6-3/8. Homer brought 12 students (Anna Aldrich, Jack Brown, Montana Brown, Naris Constantino, Andrew Kline, Ethan Maslin, Patrick Maslin, Madison Skodzinsky, Ayden Smith, Kennadie Taylor, Tyler Van Etten, and Sophia Wineburg) to compete against 2,800 students from all over New York State. Each category averaged 82 students. All students showed significant improvement in their scores from Regionals in December. Homer was able to come home with some hardware. Madison Skodzinsky placed Top 10 for written exam, Ayden Smith placed Top 10 for one of his Role Plays, and Sophia Wineburg took Top 10 for her test and Role Play, resulting in finishing 4th out of 82 students qualifying for the International Career Conference in Anaheim, CA. Sophia is the first students to even place at the SCC Conference for Homer High School. Anna Aldrich and Kennadie Taylor were also selected to participate in the leadership academy at the conference as well. The ICDC conference will take place from 4/27-4/30. We are all very proud of our students that competed and the improvement that they have shown throughout the school and competition year. 2024 State Conference Preview (3/6-3/8)
Homer will be taking 12 students to Rochester, NY for the 2024 DECA State Career Conference that is taking place at the Rochester Convention Center. These students will be competing against thousands of students from all over New York State. Each student is competing for a chance to qualify for the International Career Conference in Anaheim, CA in April. The students each took a 100 question exam, testing their knowledge of the content area that they are competing in. Over the course of the 3 days, each student will participate in a hands on scenario role play. A combination of their role play scores and 100 question test score is how a winner and place finisher is determined. Good luck to the 12 students participating!
2023 Regional Competition at LeMoyne College
The Homer High School DECA Business Club participated in their annual Regional Conference on December 19, 2023. The club brought 17 total students to Le Moyne College. All 17 students were very competitive and did a great job. Out of the 17 students, 5 of them were able to medal in their events. Ayden Smith finished 2nd in the Business Finance category, Anna Aldrich placed 2nd in the Principles of Hospitality and Tourism category, Madison Skodzinsky finished 2nd in the Sports and Entertainment Marketing category, Tyler Van Etten finished 4th in the Principles of Marketing category, and Montana Brown finished 5th in the Food Marketing category. Overall it was a very successful day for the Homer Business Students, earning a total of 12 spots to compete at the State Career Conference being held at the Rochester Convention Center March 6th-8th. Freshman Ronald Rodgers also competed online in a Stock Market game against 1,301 other students from around New York State. Ronnie placed 80th in this event. Congratulations to all of the Business Club students and we are extremely proud of your effort and successes so far this year.
2023 State Conference in Rochester, NY
The Homer DECA Marketing Club participated in the State Career Conference in Rochester, New York from march 8 th through March 10 th . There were over 3,600 students from all over New York State competing at the conference. There were 6 Homer students that qualified to compete: Regan Gilfilian, Melina Hage, Lyla Read, Lea Seales, Ryan Spalding, and Madison Wethje. All 6 students improved on their scores from the Regional Competition that was held in December. The students competed against 70 students in their chosen competition categories. Each student finished in the top 25% with Lea Seales finishing in the top 15%. These students gained experiences that they will remember and benefit from for a lifetime. We are proud of their effort and how they professionally represented our school district. Congratulations to all 6 of them on a successful competition and experience.
2022 Regional Competition at LeMoyne College
On December 20, 2022, the Homer DECA Marketing Club brought five students to the Region 9 local Career Conference. They competed against schools from all over Central New York at LeMoyne College. Hundreds of students entered the competition and they awarded plaques to the top 4 in each category. Regan Gilfilian placed 3 rd in the Principles of Marketing Competition and Ryan Spalding placed 2 nd in the Principles of Finance competition. Regan and Ryan worked extremely hard prepping for their competition and their hard work paid off with podium finishes. Congratulations to Regan and Ryan on their individual accomplishments.
