The American Civil War was a period of US History that began in April of 1861 and ended around April of 1865. It divided our country, killed thousands of Americans, and created societal wounds that took many generations to heal. Students will learn about events leading up the to Civil War, battles of the war and ways in which battles were fought using primary and secondary sources. An emphasis is placed on the Gettysburg Campaign due to our visit there in September. Below you will find copies of the handouts that each student will receive during each of the 11 lessons.
