Seeking scholarships is a wise way for students to contribute effort into financing their post secondary education. At Homedale High School we provide help and support for students interested in scholarships.

IDAHO OPPORTUNITY & GOVERNORS CUP SCHOLARSHIPS OPENING SOON!

Idaho Opportunity Scholarship:  

Idaho Opportunity Scholarship Applications are open October 1, 2023 - March 1, 2024.  

Recognizing the need for a well-educated workforce, former governor Butch Otter and the Idaho Legislature established the Opportunity Scholarship, to remove barriers to higher education and prepare college/university graduates to enter the workforce.  The Opportunity Scholarship awards eligible applicants up to $3,500 per year and is renewable for up to four years.

The scholarship funds are available per school year; recipients must re-apply each year and are eligible to receive the scholarship for a maximum of four years.

To qualify for the scholarship, a student must meet all of the following criteria:

•          Have an unweighted, cumulative GPA of 2.7 or above

•          Be an Idaho resident

•          Be a graduate from an Idaho high school or its equivalent (GED/HSE from Idaho)

•          Complete the State Board of Education scholarship application by March 1

•          Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1

•          Maintain satisfactory academic progress for financial aid purposes.

Idaho Governor’s Cup Scholarship 

Governor's Cup CTE application opens on October 1, and is due by April 15, 2024.

•          Merit-based award

•          Requires community service

•          For graduating seniors of an Idaho high school

Depending on funding, the Idaho Governor’s Cup Scholarship provides approximately 25 awards to Idaho high school seniors planning to attend an Idaho college or university. Funds are awarded to students pursuing academic or career technical education. This is a $3,000 award, renewable up to four years for academic programs and up to three years for career technical programs.

Eligibility for the Governor’s Cup Scholarship:

To qualify for the scholarship, a student must meet all of the following criteria:

•          Be a resident of Idaho

•          Be a graduating senior of an Idaho high school

•          Enroll as a full-time student in an academic or technical program at an Idaho college or university, taking the ACT or SAT if enrolling in an academic program

•          Have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above

•          Attend the first semester of college following graduation

•          Write a 500-word personal essay about your goals and interests

Documentation of volunteer work, leadership, and public service is required

Idaho Governors Cup Scholarship

The Lightfoot Foundation Scholarship opens March 1st, 2024

The Lightfoot Foundation Scholarship assists students in the Treasure Valley who wish to go to college and further their education. THEY ARE ONLY AWARDING THIS SCHOLARSHIP TO THE FIRST 500 APPLICANTS!

What are the Lightfoot Foundation’s scholarship requirements?

1.    The Lightfoot Foundation requires students to have a 2.5 cumulative GPA.

2.    Students must be graduating from a high school from one of the approved 58 towns or cities listed on website. (Homedale is on the list). 

3.    A student’s family’s household gross income must not exceed over $110,000 a year.

4.    Students must plan on enrolling in 12 or more college credits each term/semester/quarter.

5.    Students must submit a COMPLETE online scholarship on or before April 15th each year.

The Foundation funds are distributed at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors. The amount received by qualifying students may vary year by year.

THE SCHOLARSHIP CYCLE OPENS ON 3/1/2024 AND CLOSES AT MIDNIGHT MST ON 4/15/2024
