College Application Week is a nationwide program to help every high school student apply for a post-secondary degree. This year, Homedale High School will be hosting College Application week starting in October. When College Application week kicks off, seniors will be helped in using the Apply Idaho application on the Board’s Next Steps Idaho website, to create their own account, and open and print their personalized Direct Admissions letter. This letter will show all the Idaho public colleges and universities which the student pre-qualifies for admission. As a follow up, seniors will need to apply to one or more institutions to confirm their interest.
The College Application Week initiative sought to address a serious need for Idaho in improving college attainment which is critical to the growth of Idaho’s economy. As educational attainment increases, income also increases and the percent of the population living in poverty decreases. Moreover, the Governor’s Complete College Idaho Initiative asks the state to ensure that 60% of its students will attain a post-secondary certificate or degree by 2021. College Application Month is just one of several initiatives designed to ensure we do our part in reaching the goal.

If you need help with completing the FAFSA application, please contact Kristie Dorsey at kdorsey@homedaleschools.org to make an appointment.
WHAT TO BRING
Please bring 2021 Federal tax returns and W2’s. If the student worked and filed taxes, they will need their 2021 Federal tax returns and W2’s as well. Everything is tracked through social security numbers and emails.
The FAFSA application website opened October 1st. While the deadline to be considered for federal student aid is June 30, it is recommended that students complete the application before priority deadlines for colleges and universities. These deadlines typically fall between December 1st and March 31st, for fall admission dates. Meeting priority deadlines means that students will be considered for the widest array of financial assistance (loans, grants, scholarships). In addition, the Idaho Opportunity Scholarship requires applicants to complete the FAFSA by March 1st.
