Our last day of school is Wednesday! Thank you all for a great year! Your children have learned and grown so much this year! I am so proud of them! Thank you for sharing your children with me! I loved being a part of that process.
We will continue to send things home every day. Please check and empty out your child's backpack and folder daily so there aren't so many things in there on the last day. Thank you!
Some small gifts from Mrs. Myrum and myself will be coming home over the next few days as well! The children are really excited!
Report cards and assessment sheets will be coming home on today or tomorrow in a large white envelope. Please make sure you get them! We will also be including a Kindergarten handwriting sheet that shows the proper formation of letters and numbers and/or a Kindergarten Readiness checklist for you to use and reference if you wish. Many of the children are getting very interested in writing and knowing the correct way to hold a pencil and form letters from the start is very beneficial! The checklist includes skills your child should know before they enter Kindergarten. It is not all inclusive, but it is a good reference point. Feel free to work on some of these skills over the summer as well. These sheets are also included on our Resources tab, in case you misplace your paper copy.
Your child's "My Writing Journal" will actually be sent home this week. (Sorry, we didn't quite have them ready last week.) This book is filled with journal writings from throughout the year. You will definitely want to take a look at it! It is quite amazing at how their drawing and writing skills have developed and changed over this time. Plus, it is fun to see the progression from the start to the end of the year! Have your child "read" it to you! That always brings a smile to my face.
Final pictures have been added to the Pictures tab! Please take a few minutes to check them out. It is a great time to scroll through them and see how your child has grown and changed throughout the year. It is one of my most favorite things to do! Even better, do it with your child and they will have some fun and exciting stories to share about each and every picture!
I have created a summer skills activity list with some fun ideas of ways to practice basic skills needed for Kindergarten. It is not comprehensive, just some ideas I have thought of. If you would like a copy sent home with your child or emailed to you; please let me know.
The weather is going to be cooler this week. Please make sure your child has a coat and hat!
The May breakfast, snack and lunch calendars are available for viewing on the "Menus" tab above.
