By Myrto Papoulia - Reception
Speira Project took shape and form through many years of practice, daydreaming, learning, playing, acting and practising some more! Myrto, got inspired from her collaborations with applied theatre companies, primary schools, theatres, care homes and the different cultures she has encountered in her work.
Speira comes from the exciting combination of Pedagogy and Theatre. Yes, Myrto is both a teacher and an Applied Theatre facilitator (MA). And yes, teachers can be fun! That’s how our curriculum was born: step one, mixing modern pedagogy, heaps of curiosity, a dash of the national curriculum, a tad of madness, buckets of theatre and mindfulness techniques. Step two, laying it all on a bedrock of determination to offer children alternative learning and the space for self-discovery. We approach each child as the unique human being they, are and support them in their wonderful creative journey.
And that’s how a unique theatrical play project comes to life!
Traditional Greek dancing has a primarily social function. It brings the community together at key points of the year.
Our new resident dance teacher Ms Kostakis will be on hand to teach the children of the Holy Cross Greek School dances from the Sirtaki to the Tsamiko.
