Coming soon....
A maymester is a 3-4 week high-impact, immersive study abroad experience. Students travel with Holy Cross faculty members to gain hands-on experience in the subject matter covered by the Maymester.
Students apply for Maymesters by November 15th at sa.holycross.edu. Click 'Programs' on the left-hand panel to find your desired Maymester and complete an application. Requirements include your transcript, a faculty recommendation letter, and a personal statement.
Maymester faculty leaders evaluate each application holistically and select participants based on all of their application materials.
The cost of each Maymester program varies. Click on the program you want to know more about above to find out more about the cost!
When you think about budgeting for a Maymester, it's a good idea to think about your lifestyle and the types of things you'd like to experience while you're away. Will you eat at fancy restaurants often or do you prefer cheap and cheerful cafes? Will you go out to nightclubs or bars frequently? Do you plan to do a lot of travel in your host city or outside of it? These are all things to think about.
To start, it's a great idea to look up the average cost of everyday items in your host destination. To do this, go to numbeo cost of living calculator and enter your host city! You'll get an idea of the average cost of everything from coffee and bread to public transportation and beyond.
Each Maymester counts as one Holy Cross credit. Maymesters are designed to cover one to two common area requirements. Click on the Maymester you're interested in above to learn more about which common areas are covered by your desired program.
The name of your Maymester will be listed on your Holy Cross transcript along with the letter grade you earned. Maymester classes do not count towards your cumulative gpa.
While the letter grader you earn on a Maymester will appear on your Holy Cross transcript, this grade is not factored into your cumulative gpa.
Maymesters are not pass/fail! You will earn a letter grade and that grade will appear on your Holy Cross transcript.
