My interest in topography, specifically, in meaningful and expressive landforms, sparked my development of intricate mixed media works. I am captivated by the component of time that map-making provides. As individuals, we are accustomed to the distance it takes to get a desired location rather than its shape. Therefore, when walking, driving, or biking around cities and towns daily, we become familiar with the distance it takes to arrive at a destination, neglecting the physical shape of the landscape.

My works display areas that break down into an almost unidentifiable geometric shape. Through the unique forms, I generate a printed pattern on the surface area that will transform from an everyday place to a camouflaged image. Printmaking allows me to produce an image multiple times, in my work, I utilize this technique to repeat and emphasize my landform to display the constant use it endures.

My innovative approach takes well-traveled routes for granted and brings it to the forefront of my work. I select landforms because of the memories and beauty of the landscape. For me, mapping is about the experience, as my process develops further, I consider the geography or the negative space of the landforms such as ponds and lakes within the pre- existing shape. By calling on the attention of the routinely, heavily journeyed routes, and reducing them to forms and a color interpretation, the viewer can see the idea from a different perspective.

My artistic development takes on a mixed media approach by using both acrylic paint and printmaking patterns working on various surfaces. Through the use of purposeful color choice and intricate color interaction, my work provides the viewer with another layer of depth.
