We are pleased to introduce énouement, a digital exhibition of the work of studio art majors from the College of the Holy Cross.

Featuring work by:

Throughout their senior year, the students have participated in a concentration seminar, a rigorous capstone experience in which they developed their artistic practice through independent work and experimentation. During this time, students worked closely with faculty mentors to find their individual voice, and to develop a mature and cohesive body of work. The students have selected the pieces that best represent this process; they have also collaborated with faculty and Cantor staff to conceptualize and design this site.

Culminating in the spring of 2020, the project has been met with unique challenges, requiring the seniors to shift their approach and practice in myriad ways.

They have chosen the title énouement — defined as the bittersweet feeling of having arrived in the future to see how things turn out, without being able to tell one’s past self — to reflect the unexpected turn that has disrupted their final months at Holy Cross.

We are proud of the thoughtfulness with which these nine artists confronted this momentous shift, remaining connected to their practice and each other, maintaining the integrity of their work, and engaging with the possibilities of online display. This exhibition is a testament not only to each student’s individual journey, but also to their collective will to present their work on a public platform. We offer them our congratulations and deepest respect, and wish them continued success as they pursue their artistic careers.
