MS Global Journeys

Global Learning Gone Virtual!

Holton-Arms School is committed to providing our students an opportunity to engage their world while deepening their socio-cultural knowledge and disposition. Although the pandemic has restricted some of the global programming at Holton-Arms, such as our off-campus programming and international student visits, we have always considered global education beyond the experiential learning that occurs outside of our walls. Through this integrated approach, that puts understanding diverse perspectives at the center, we have been able to more easily adapt to global programming in the virtual environment.

Over the course of this two-and-a-half-day immersive journey, students had an opportunity to collaborate with students from other schools across the nation and globe to:

  • Recognize influences that have shaped their own perspectives and gain a greater understanding of the views of others;

  • Actively listen and engage in dialogue that promotes growth, connection, and agency;

  • Examine how SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities impacts local, national, and global communities, specifically focusing on the key characteristics of successful communities: inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.

Holton-Arms Global Education Learning Goals

  • Foster an interest in and understanding of diverse perspectives

  • Cultivate the knowledge and disposition necessary to interact and engage respectfully and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences

  • Empower students to leverage their content knowledge to make sense of the world’s interconnectedness and take appropriate action for the promotion of sustainability, social justice, equality, and peace.
