Identified students are provided support, to meet their learning needs, through a multi-tiered system.  Delivery decisions are made based on the academic needs of students.

Tier 1:  Classroom Intervention - Differentiation of instruction to target students' individual needs.

In Tier 1, student learning needs are addressed as part of the classroom instruction. This includes goal-driven differentiation provided through one-on-one or flexible, small group instruction.

Tier 2: Small Group Intervention

Support in Tier 2 includes the goal-driven, differentiated instruction provided in Tier 1 and small group, supplemental  instruction provided by a content area specialist      (interventionist).

Tier 3: Small Group Intervention

Support in Tier 3 includes the core instruction provided in Tier 1 and targeted, intensive (increased time, frequency and duration), small group instruction.

Students may move in or out of the tiers of intervention throughout the year.

Universal Screening

Universal screening is a critical first step in identifying students who are at risk for experiencing learning difficulties and who might need more instruction.  In any MTSS System, universal screening tools are used to match children with curricula/intervention designed to met their individual needs.  Universal screening measures are assessments focused on targeted skills and are typically used with all children three times a year (fall, winter and spring) to measure progress and determine an appropriate level of support.  Universal screening tools focus on targeted skills that are predictive of future outcomes in mathematics and literacy. A universal screening tool answers the question, "Is the child performing at benchmark levels on key skills?"
