Letter From the Editor: What's the Buzz at Satz?
The Satz Buzz is the online newspaper at our school published biweekly on our official website, created by Satz's very own Newspaper Club. Our club is a creative and collaborative community of student minds that works to deliver all of the latest school, community, and national news. This newspaper is the result of members with passions for writing, videography, photography, culture, community involvement, and various media backgrounds coming together to bring those skills together in a way that truly matters. Now, we hope to bring that to the students at Satz.
Our newspaper provides an overview of any club/sport news happening within the school, cultural gathering/holidays, and community events. We also include editorials, which are our unique opinion pieces that we write in hopes of posing serious questions to our readers and pushing them to think critically about the world around them. However, we strive to bring Satz’s students awareness about things going on beyond just our school, too, through our reports on world events. Our current events section touches on many intriguing happenings going on all around the world, giving students the chance to discover broader topics.
We also have started to work in more student and teacher involvement within school through our newly incorporated student polls. This is our way of allowing students to share their thoughts in our newspaper with poll topics ranging from many different options, and we make it a point to welcome student ideas, too. We also conduct a teacher interview for each of our publications, spotlighting one (or a a few) of our instructors in a short but loaded snapshot.
By adopting different lenses and styles in our reports, we at the Newspaper Club translate our values of information, interaction, and imagination into our work. We believe that news is not only important to report, but it is crucial for one to share their own ideas and perspectives on it. Satz is buzzing with news, and the Newspaper Club is ready to share their voice.
