Word Study is an important part of our day when we work on word patterns and apply spelling rules to our 3rd grade writing. We focus on multi-syllable words and breaking them down into their syllables to notice common word patterns.

Vocabulary is a part of Word Study too! We spend time each week working with new and interesting vocabulary words to expand our 3rd grade vocabulary knowledge. These words are embedded into our literacy program and reading passages.
**Several new vocabulary words are added to our Vocabulary Journal each week at our "Vocabulary Center"
**During each literacy lesson we notice, define, and apply new vocabulary words
**New vocabulary is extended through independent reading as well
