This survey course in aimed at students with interest in this performing arts discipline. Units of study will focus on improvisation and composition, performing movements, and incorporating social, historical, and cultural themes and choreographic devices. Teaching activities and assessments may include: performance based tasks, participation in dance exercises, improvisation, student-driven choreography, research projects, written assessments, in-class presentations, journal entries, traditional exams, vocabulary quizzes, peer review and self-evaluation.

Holmdel High School
This course is designed to provide students with a basis in dance technique of various genres, including ballet, jazz, and modern. Students will also develop an understanding of the choreographic process by creating a piece of their own. The students will be given a chance to showcase what they have learned throughout the course in a performance at the end of the semester, featuring both teacher and student choreography.
This course is designed to supplement the Dance I class. The students will continue to develop dance technique in various genres including ballet, jazz, and modern. The students will be furthering their choreographic skills by creating a full length dance piece in a given genre. The students will showcase what they have learned throughout the course in a performance at the end of the semester, featuring both student and teacher choreography.
This course is eligible for dual enrollment credit through Stockton University.
This course is a continuation of Dance 1 and Dance 2 and provides students with the opportunity to continue their study of advanced dance technique, dance history, social and cultural implications within dance, anatomic and kinesthetic awareness and compositional skills. With a focus on composition, students in this course will be able to explore and develop their own artistic voice. The goal of this course is for students to continue to strengthen their skills as a dancer as well as create dance works that express their experiences and interpretations of the world around them.
