Animal Farm, by George Orwell was published in 1945. Animal Farm is about a group of animals on Manor Farm who overthrow their farmer and create an animal utopia to live in. Animal Farm is a massive allegory for revolution. In the beginning of the book, the animals are excited about the revolution, however, like many real world revolutions, a new regime pops up to control the population after the revolution. The novel has many ties to Napoleonic France and the Russian Revolution, making references to each one, even with going as far to name a character in the book Napoleon. For the presentation, Michael first gave a quick summary of the first pages of the book, and talked about many of the themes in the novel. After that, Michael made a skit about students overthrowing their teacher. The play summarizes many different points of the book, like the chant and the breaking of rules, without spoiling many of the real plot points of the book.
