¡Hola!
I'm Señora Rousseau. Bienvenidos to Sixth grade Spanish! I am really excited about teaching you my native language and the culture I was raised in. My parents are from Puerto Rico and I grew up bilingual: speaking both Spanish and English from an early age. I have two children: Ava, age 13 and Ponce, age 7. They also enjoy languages and love visiting Puerto Rico in the summers.
Spanish class is going to be an Asynchronous course this year due to the large class sizes and remote schedule. Students have Spanish from 1:33-2:33. However, this one hour is broken up into two segments: Section one or Period 6 (1:33-2:03) and Section 2 or Period 7 (2:03-2:33.) Students will do independent work during the week. All assignments are due by their due date, but students may submit them as they complete assignments independently. Please note, late work from the previous week will not be accepted.
All work will be assigned in google classroom. Every Sunday night, I will share on Google Classroom my activity map that has broken down assignments by day or task. This will help kids with managing their time. I will also be available through zoom during their allotted Spanish Class time to answer questions they may have.
Fridays will be the only day where kids will zoom in for interactive activities as a class.
This year we will be using a new online Spanish language learning tool called Voces. We will spend time at the beginning of the school year, learning how to log-in and navigate this online tool. Google Classroom will be our central location where you will find assignments, submit assignments, find zoom links, and receive daily announcements for spanish.
I hope you're ready for this adventure! We're going to have a great year together!
Below you will find links to some of the important resources we will be using.
