Director

Beth Hecker

Mrs. Hecker is the founder of the Re-Act Players and has been the Director since 2013. At RAMS, to date, she has directed Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, Wizard of Oz, Little Mermaid, Oliver, Willy Wonka, the award-winning production of The Addams Family and Mary Poppins. In addition to the musicals, Mrs. Hecker created format of the Fall One Acts as well as the Re-Act Players Give Back Benefit Performance. Prior to her coming to Robert Adams Middle School, she directed over twenty musicals at Stoneham High School or Dover-Sherborn High School. Besides being a Director by afternoons/evenings, by day Mrs. Hecker is a full-time Guidance Counselor at Dover-Sherborn High School. Theatre, however, is her true passion and her goal is to not only pass on that love of theatre but help educate students along the way. Mrs. Hecker received her BA in Counseling in Education at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and her Masters in Education at the University of Massachusetts in Boston.

Music Director

Rachel MacKenzie


Rachel MacKenzie (she/her) is a versatile performing artist and teacher who has years of teaching experience serving all ages through the public and private sectors. As an educator, Rachel has served as a Professor at NYU, The State University at Albany, Anna Maria College, as well as guest lecturing at many other institutions around the country.


Rachel has also been seen onstage supporting some of Broadway’s brightest starts as a background vocalist. You can see her singing for Broadway veterans like Jeremey Jordan, Natalie, Weiss, and Ariana Debose in the famous Broadway Loves Series at 54 Below and collaborating with many other artists around NYC for the past decade.


Rachel currently serves as the Director of Acting and Musical Theater at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, a Professor at the University at Albany, a teacher and music director at Ensemble Performing Arts Studio in Walpole, and she maintains a private vocal studio in both NYC and MA where she teaches a diverse group of students ranging from absolute beginner to professional adults currently performing on Broadway, Off Broadway, and in Regional Playhouses across the country. She holds undergrad degrees in Music (Classical Piano and Voice), and Anthropology (Bioarchaeolgy) from UMass Amherst, a Masters in Music in Vocal Performance for Musical Theater from NYU, as well as an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy and some additional Post-Grad study from NYU. @ramackenzie

Choreographer

Desiree Reese Mottard


After a 15 year career of dancing professionally, Desiree retired and became a ballet instructor working with students for over 20 years in the Boston area. She has a passion for choreographing and has used her expertise at various venues such as churches, schools and dance schools. When she's not teaching dance, she is growing her Movement & Mindfulness program, where schools bring her in to educate on the practices of mindfulness. She is a proud mom of Luc, who makes everyday an adventure!
