Endorsement Requirements
Global citizens come from all walks of society with a wide variety of interests and skills. This program is designed to be a rigorous and well-rounded experience for motivated students who want to explore these interests, deepen their understandings, and develop and strengthen skills in the globally oriented endeavors of their choosing. While there are no “one size fits all” requirements to become a global citizen, students are expected to be self-directed, and eligibility for endorsement will be determined by their commitment to and the quality of their cumulative work. With this in mind, each student’s portfolio will include a mix of coursework (including service learning action projects), extracurricular activities, and leadership experiences. For those who would like to earn the more rigorous “GCP Endorsement plus Capstone Project”, they may additionally complete an independent capstone project of their own choosing.
Guidelines are as follows:
#1 COURSEWORK - Students will complete:
.5 credit Introduction to Global Citizens Program (Suggested: 9th grade, Required: by end of 10th grade)
1 credit Service Learning (Must be taken in 10th or 11th grade.)
4 additional globally oriented credits from the GCP Approved Course List
The following is an optional course available to students who are looking to earn the Endorsement Plus Capstone Project, to give them time to work on their Capstone projects after the completion of Service Learning:
