Trimester 1 clubs will run from Tuesday, September 22, 2026 through Friday, December 11, 2026.

Club Registration Information

Important: If you register your child in the lottery for one or more clubs, you are committing to paying for all clubs in which your child is selected through the lottery process. You may only enter your child into one club lottery for each day of the week. If you do not enroll and pay for a club in which your child earned a spot in through the lottery, you will lose the ability to enroll them in all other clubs for the current trimester and the next trimester. However, if there is a waitlist for the club, you may be able to drop your child from the club if we are able to enter another student in club.

1.  Club offerings and lottery registration will be made available to families on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. 

2.  Once lottery registration for clubs opens, families will have several days to make selections for their child(ren). Lottery registration will close at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.  NO LATE LOTTERY REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

3. We will use a lottery process to fill spots in clubs in which the number of students interested in participating exceeds the number of seats.  Clubs lists will be posted on the HCS After Care Website no later than Friday, Septmeber 11, 2026.

4. Most clubs will run from 3:00 pm-4:30 pm, unless otherwise indicated. 

5. Payment is due by 3:00 pm on Monday, September 14 , 2026 for all clubs in which families were able to successfully register. All payments must be made on Payschools via credit card or e-check. The business office will no longer be accepting paper checks.  If your payment is not received by this deadline, your child will not be able to participate in the club. It is the parent’s responsibility to know their due balances and make accurate payments in a timely manner. 

6. We know that this is a substantial amount of money to pay upfront, especially if your child participates daily, so if you would like, you can submit  two equal partial payments online via Payshools,  the first payment is due at the time of registration, the second and final payment is due thirty days later.  It is the parent’s responsibility to know their due balances and make accurate payments in a timely manner.

Hoboken Charter School After School Club Offerings 2026-2027 - Trimester 1

MONDAY CLUBS:

Spy School Club: Grades Kindergarten – 6th with Mr. Kunkel, $290 ($275 + $15 for supplies)

Students will become secret agents by solving cases using tools of spy-craft. Some days will include hands-on building, like making a decoder, a disguise, or a secret message. Other days will involve spy games, codebreaking challenges, and team missions that build problem-solving skills.

Game Squad Club: Grades Kindergarten – 4th with Ms. Ajamian, $290 ($275 + $15 for supplies)

Welcome to the carnival of fun and games! Game squad includes all types of games including board games, computer games, full class games and small group games. Playing games with other students helps children learn to focus on having fun rather than winning or losing. Engaging in play assists in practicing essential cognitive skills, such as decision making, higher level strategic thinking, and problem solving. The game squad will be filled with fun, friends, and plenty of surprises!

Basketball Club: Grades Kindergarten – 4th with Coach Kutchma, $275                                                                                                                  In this club, basic basketball skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting are taught.  Players will then split up into individual teams for weekly sessions that will continue to build upon skill development as well as participate in 20–40-minute mini games (depending on the grade).  The games will be another avenue to further emphasize the skills being taught. Sneakers and gym wear are required.

Beading Club: Grades Kindergarten – 4th with Ms. Davidson, $295 ($275 + $20 for supplies)

The Beading Club is a creative space where students can design and create bracelets, necklaces, keychains, bookmarks, and other beaded projects. Students will learn basic beading techniques, practice patternmaking, and develop fine motor skills while expressing their creativity. Students will take home beaded projects after each class.

HCS Speech & Debate Team: Grades 5th – 8th with Ms. Shay, $295 ($275 + $20 supplies)                                                                                                   This after school team will explore some of the many categories in the competitive Speech and Debate world. During club time we will split our time by working on different activities to hone our skills or preparing  pieces for competition. Students who join our team will be expected to come ready to delve into the speech and debate world. Every student will be expected to pick, cut and work on Prose, Poetry or Declamation. We will also have opportunities to work on Prose/ con  challenges and congressional debate. There will be opportunities to compete in synchronous, online and in- person competitions. We will talk about the power of public speaking and how learning how to think critically and analytically is so important in every aspect of life. We will play some games and find new and exciting ways to communicate effectively through poetry, prose and rhetoric. Come find out what the amazing world of Speech and Debate is all about. Please only register if your child is interested in being a part of this academic heavy club. This club works best as a three-trimester commitment. There will be additional tournament registration costs. 

Extra Innings Club: Grades Kindergarten – 6th with HCS Staff, $275                                                                           

In this club students will be provided with a quiet, structured environment to allow him/her to complete their homework. The main objective here is to encourage good work habits, organizational skills, and a sense of achievement in every student. Once their homework is completed, they will have time to play educational games, arts and crafts, coloring, puzzles, and much more.

TUESDAY CLUBS:

Build It Club: Grades  Kindergarten – 6th with Mr. Kunkel, $290 ($275 + $15 for supplies)

Build It Club is a hands-on experience where students create their own projects using wood and other craft materials. Students will learn how to use tools safely while assembling with care. Projects will vary by age, with younger students focusing on simple builds and older students working on larger projects that may take several weeks to complete.

World Travelers Club: Grades Kindergarten – 6th with Ms. Ajamian, $290 ($275 + $15 for supplies)

We will embark on weekly world travel—without ever leaving HCS! Join us as we explore cultures from all over the globe, including Asia, Africa, and Europe. We will investigate the cultures of faraway places through multicultural literature and children’s stories, researching and participating in customs, and even sampling new foods. We will cultivate an interest and respect for others’ cultures and culminate with a collaborative group project celebrating the countries and cultures that we represent. No passports needed!

Scrapbooking Club: Grades Kindergarten – 4th with Ms. Garvin, $290 ($275 + $15 for supplies)

The Scrapbooking Club is a creative space where students can preserve memories and express themselves through art and storytelling. Club members will design personalized scrapbook pages using photographs, drawings, stickers, decorative paper, and other craft materials. Students will learn basic scrapbooking techniques, explore different layouts and design styles, and develop creativity, organization, and fine motor skills. Whether documenting special events, favorite hobbies, family memories, or imaginative stories, students will create meaningful keepsakes while having fun in a supportive and artistic environment.

Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice Club: Grades Kindergarten – 4th with Ms. Davidson, $295 ($275 + 20 for supplies)                                                The Fall Fun Club is a creative and seasonal club where students will celebrate all things autumn through crafts, games, STEM challenges, and activities. Students will explore the colors, traditions, and themes of the fall season while creating projects, working with friends, and enjoying festive activities.

Indoor Soccer Club: Grades Kindergarten – 8th with Coach Kutchma, $275

We’ll provide an atmosphere that allows players to develop technically, tactically, physically, and mentally to compete at the highest levels of soccer. This will be done by providing the highest level of coaching in a safe and fun environment and in the most cost-efficient manner possible. Sneakers and gym wear are required.

School Newspaper Club: Grades 2nd– 8th with Ms. Shay, $295 ($275 + $20 for supplies)

Have you ever wanted to be a reporter, editor, or photographer? In the HCS School Newspaper Club, led by Mr. Forteza and Ms. Shay, you will work together to create our very own school newspaper! Whether you enjoy writing, interviewing, taking photos, or designing, there’s a role for everyone. We’ll cover school events, student achievements, fun stories, community events, and more. Join us to help share the voices and stories of our school community!

WEDNESDAY CLUBS:

Technology Club: Gaming, Coding & Robotics: Grades 2nd – 8th with Mr. Kunkel, $275

In this club, students can explore a wide range of technology-based activities offered at HCS. Whether they want to 3D print, code, play Roblox, or try something new, the choice is entirely theirs. Sessions are self-directed, so students pick their projects, switch activities when they want, and follow their curiosity. Students interested in competitive robotics should sign up. There’s plenty to discover for any student who loves tech!

Autumn Gardening Club: Grades Kindergarten – 6th with Ms. Ajamian, $290 ($275 + $15 for supplies)

Autumn is a beautiful time to be outside and immerse yourself in creative and fun gardening activities. In our club, we’ll explore all the exciting things that happen in the garden as the weather starts to cool down. We’ll learn about how plants change during the fall, and how we can take care of them to prepare for winter. We will be planting fall seeds, learning about garden critters, creating nature art, and more. Come join us in the festive fall garden!  

Knitting and Yarn Club: Grades Kindergarten – 8th with Ms. Leahy, $290 ($275 + $15 for supplies)

The Knitting Club is a fun and relaxing space where students can learn the basics of knitting while expressing creativity and building patience. Knitters will practice simple stitches  and develop fine motor skills at their own pace. Experienced knitters will progress in their study of different stitches and reading patterns. Younger students (grades K-2)  will work on yarn crafts and weaving on small looms.

 Snack Scientists Club: Grades Kindergarten – 4th with Ms. Davidson, $295 ($275 + $20 for supplies)                                                                                The Snack Scientists Club is a hands-on club where students will explore science through experiments, investigations, and edible activities. Students will ask questions, make predictions, observe results, and discover how science connects to the foods we eat every day. Club members will explore concepts such as chemistry, physics, and biology in a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate way while working together and thinking like scientists.

Dungeon & Dragons Club: Grades 5th – 8th with Ms. Titus, $295 ($275 + $20 for supplies)

Are you looking for adventure? Do you like to be creative? Are you a team player? Well then, join the Dungeons & Dragons club where we will create unique characters, solve challenges, tell stories, and embark on epic quests together. Through imaginative role-playing and collaborative problem solving, you will build communication skills, confidence, and friendships while having fun in a fantasy setting. No prior experience is required — new and experienced players are welcome!

Crazy Chem-works: Grades Kindergarten – 6th with Mad Science, $450

Welcome to the world of chemistry! Children make gooey slime, experiment with different reactions, and learn to use the tools that chemists use. Polymers and catalysts are only two of the fascinating concepts young scientists explore in this thrilling trip through the chemistry lab!

Tool Time: Grades Kindergarten – 4th with Ms. Jill from Green STEAM Lab, $450

Get ready to build, design, and create! In Tool Time, students will learn how to use 3D printing pens, hot glue, MakeDo child-safe tools, and the tabletop ChompSaw to bring their ideas to life. This hands-on class encourages creativity, problem-solving, and confidence to turn everyday materials into amazing inventions!

Fall Foodie & Creative Crafters: Grades Kindergarten – 4th with Sew & So’s Studio, $450

Kids will sew, craft, and design fun fall-themed projects, including:

Level Up After School! Ready to play games, compete, and make new friends? Join the After School Video Game Club and dive into an epic world of fun! Whether you're a casual player, a competitive champion, or just curious about gaming, there's a place for you.  Play your favorite games, participate in friendly tournaments, team up with friends and meet new players, learn strategy, teamwork, enjoy special gaming events and challenges. Gaga Club: Grades Kindergarten – 4th with Coach Kutchma, $275

Gaga is a fast paced, high-energy sport played in an octagonal pit. The more players the better! Dubbed a kinder gentler version of dodge ball, the game is played with a soft foam ball, and combines the skills of dodging, striking, running, and jumping, while trying to hit opponents with a ball below the knees. Players need to keep moving to avoid getting hit by the ball. Fun and easy, everyone gets a serious workout. Sneakers and gym wear are required.

Pokémon Art Club: Grades Kindergarten – 4th with Ms. Sanchez, $290 ($275 + $15 for supplies)

In this club, we will be exploring the fascinating and exciting world of Pokémon! In each club we will be creating our own Pokémon, Pokémon cards, characters, and world. This is a drawing-based club where we will be exploring different Pokémon and creating our own inspired by their abilities. Students will be able to trade, collect, and battle with the cards we create in this club. This club is good for anyone from Pokémon lovers to anyone interested in creating their own cards, or characters. 

Street Beats & Neon Dreams: Grades Kindergarten – 8th by Shehnaaz Dance Academy & Buzy Bugs, $485

Street Beats & Neon Dreams is an exciting after-school enrichment program that combines energetic Hip Hop dance instruction by Ms. Jade with hands-on creative art projects by Ms. Apnavi. Students will learn age-appropriate Hip Hop choreography while designing their own graffiti-inspired T-shirts and glow-in-the-dark accessories, encouraging creativity, confidence, teamwork, and self-expression. The program concludes with a fun showcase tentatively scheduled for December 12th, 2026 where participants will perform their routine wearing the unique creations they designed throughout the session.
